Donegal Cetacean Survey
(c) 2006 E Johnston

We know precious little about the Cetaceans (whales and dolphins) in our waters. This ongoing survey is a reporting scheme that will help us to understand and develop our knowledge of these magnificent mammals. All we want you to do is report what you see? If you see a dolphin or whale while out walking near Malin head or fishing or diving near Inishtrahull we want to know about it. We are also interested in any strandings you see on beaches in Donegal, particularly in the Inishowen area.

With your help we will be able to build up a basic picture of what?s going on around our coast. Every little helps and if you make the effort as an individual others will help fill in the gaps. We are working with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group to this end. Please contact them directly at www.iwdg.ie.

To report any active sightings or dolphin/ whale strandings here locally follow the link below to our special survey area and leave a message describing what you saw.

Update June 2007
Unfortunately due to abuse by "spam robots" anonymous posting has now been disabled on all survey message boards. If you want to report a sighting you will now have to log-in/ register first to leave a message. Joining up/ registering is very fast and easy, you just need a valid email account. Thanks for your continued support and patience.
